Moving to Wordpress

Warning..this blog is graphic intense..please give time for the photos to load.

The time has come…change can be good right? I’m hoping changing from Spaces to Wordpress will give me a boost I need to start blogging again. It’s new territory for me but I need something I don’t have to keep maintained as often. I hope you’ll pop in from time to time and see me. Thank you all for sticking with me here even when I failed to visit and keep up with everyone.

In other news… my sweet Blu passed away Friday. He hadn’t been himself the last few days and when he didn’t show up to see me off for work Thursday I feared the worst. I called home on break and hubby said he was in the backyard and he would take him to the vet if he couldn’t get him to eat. He disappeared a few minutes later. We searched the neighbors later that evening, up and down the road..no Blu. Friday evening we walked past the backyard into the neighbors field and there we found him. He looked as though he had laid down and went to sleep. We think he either got into some poison or was poisoned on purpose. Even though we never saw the tell-tale signs of poisoning…vomiting, drunkenness, diarrhea. He just seemed tired and had no appetite suddenly. We buried him next to Sadie under the willow tree in the backyard. He often chased Foxy up the willow and kept her there till he saw fit to let her come down. It’s hard to believe just how much he had grown over the last few months. He went from a 25 lb puppy to 75lbs of tongue and teeth in no time. He chewed up everything he could find and would bury his rawhide bones by the ditchbank for future chews. He was a pest and an angel at the same time and I wouldn’t have taken all the money in the world for him. My time with him was more precious than I could have known. RIP my dear sweet baby.

The day we brought him home.. 3 1/2 months old. His collar was too big for him!

Oh those paws…we knew he was going to be a big dog.

Taken thru the backdoor…his first big “trouble”. He got into my potted plants on the deck and proceeded to lay in the soil. That face says it all.

Taken through the backdoor window…I think he slept this way for an hour. lol

His last photo..taken Nov 8th. He was soaking up some sun on the deck while I tended to the pond. Ears flopped back, not a care in the world. My heart is heavy.

Great Egret

Anyone who knows me well knows I love birds.. especially waterbirds. A quick trip to Reelfoot Lake gave me the opportunity to find egrets at every nook and cranny of the lake. Only one was brave enough to stay close enough for me to shoot though. I just love these guys!

Twins?

I’m not sure if these two are brother and sister or mates. But I couldn’t resist getting a shot of them nestled on the lily pad together. It won’t be long before all the pads are gone in the pond and the frogs will disappear for the Winter.

Green Beauty

We’re on Fall Break right now but it’s been so rainy I haven’t been out with the camera much. And since hubby has hurt his back at work (muscle tear or bad muscle strain), we won’t be going camping next week even though he took a vacation week. *sigh* I’ll just have to set the tent up in the yard and build a campfire.

It’s a Frog’s Life

The weather may be getting cooler but all the rain we’ve had has brought back the frogs to the pond. I counted 4 little ones in the water yesterday. Only one decided to stick around to pose for the camera. I hope I found his good side.

Seasons Changing

You can smell it…the smell of Autumn just around the corner. It’s in every campfire, every whisper of northern wind that blows through. You can see just a hint of the leaves beginning to curl and turn upward as if they’re giving in to the cooler temps that are making their way to the south. And I love it!

Who’s ready for Fall??

Tracks

Taken Sept. 20, 2009…added a bit of color pop

I accidently left the “sunset” setting on when I took this one.. thought it gave the rocks a nice effect so I left it alone.

Bean Fields

Gotta love the yellows and greens that come together…

Dusting off the Spiderwebs

Well here I am.. at last, dusting away the cobwebs and telling myself I need to get back to blogging. This is my futile attempt at resurfacing again. I’m sure all my followers have moved on and I completely understand them doing so. Who wants to wait for someone to blog once a month?? I think one of the reasons I’ve fallen off the map lately is my guilt at not being able to reciprocate the visitations. I just never had the time to get around to everyone so I gave up all together. This started out being a photoblog and I never dreamed anyone but “me” would care to view it, much less follow on a weekly basis. To those who stuck around in the shadows, thank you. To those who’ve moved on, I understand!

What am I doing now?? Working and praying for Fridays. And watching alot of tv. I’ve been smitten with a few shows this Summer (Dark Blue, Big Brother, Hawthorne and Harper’s Island which ended about a month ago) I’ve actually watched more tv this Summer than I can remember. This isn’t good! I should be outside with the camera more.

With Kasey in college now, the funds are super-tight around here. Unless a miracle happens and I win the lottery, there will be no camping excursions for awhile. Anyone who knows me knows I love my getaways. *sigh* But ya gotta pay the bills right?

Enough yacking… it’s time to remember what I started this blog for.

New Puppy

Welcome the new addition to our family… 3 month old “Blu”. He’s a Great Pyrenees Mix so he’s huge already. My husbands uncle was going to take him to the pound and well.. I just couldn’t let that happen.

He’s a great big goofy mess and we love him. Now if I can just keep him out of the mudholes! He’s had 3 baths this week!

Still wet from his first bath

That’s one “hot dog”

May the light of your soul guide you.
May the light of your soul bless the work
You do with the secret love and warmth of your heart.
May you see in what you do the beauty of your own soul.
May the sacredness of your work bring healing, light and renewal to those
Who work with you and to those who see and receive your work.
May your work never weary you.
May it release within you wellsprings of refreshment, inspiration and excitement.
May you be present in what you do.
May you never become lost in the bland absences.
May the day never burden you.
May dawn find you awake and alert, approaching your new day with dreams,
Possibilities and promises.
May evening find you gracious and fulfilled.
May you go into the night blessed, sheltered and protected.
May your soul calm, console and renew you.
